Kenya has thrown off its hackeneyed beach and bush image and, in recent years, has begun to reinvent itself as a vibrant 21st century destination. And in the process, it has done nothing short of reclaiming its title as Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the Safari World.

Climate

The average temperature in Mombasa is between 28 °C to 33°C.Visitors should however not underestimate the strong intensity of the equatorial sun and humidity.


Clothing & Accesories


If you do not actually want to sunbathe, it is best to wear light clothing preferably cotton which, however should cover as much as possible of the body to protect against sunburn, dust and mosquitoes

Voltage

Main electricity is supplied in 240V/AC.Plugs are usually two-pin or three-pin, but adaptors are available at the hotel shop.

Money

Kenya’s national currency is Kenyan Shilling (Ksh.) in denominations of 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Kenyan Shillings.

There is a bank next to the hotel; however the hotel is also authorized to change the money. Changing money at the street is not advisable as the risk of being cheated is very high.

Valuables

It is best to leave your valuables such as money, jewellery or travel documents in the hotel safe which is available in every room at no extra charge.

Health

Whoever travels to Kenya should consult their doctor before leaving their country for malaria prophylaxis. Inoculation against yellow fever is mandatory before arriving to Kenya.

Travelling By Car

Traffic drives on the left in Kenya. To rent a car you will need an international driver’s license and a passport.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available at the airport and the hotel.

Business Centre

Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa has a business centre offering internet services, photocopying, binding, faxing, scanning, telephone services (local, mobile and international calls) and computer services at a charge.

Language

The national language is Swahili, but the official language for administration and business is English.
